What's covered

Medical and hospital

We pay for emergency medical treatment and ambulance costs as well as your journey home, if it's medically necessary.

We pay a fixed amount for each day you stay in hospital.

We will pay for a relative or friend to fly out to stay with you (room only) if needed due to medical advice.

Any treatment or surgery that can wait until you return home.

Any treatment you receive because of a medical condition or associated illness which you knew about in advance and didn't declare.

Any claim that results from you being involved in any malicious, reckless, illegal or criminal act.

Baggage and money

We pay if something is lost, damaged, or stolen. And if your baggage is delayed while you're heading to your destination, we pay for essentials to tide you over.

We will pay for lost or stolen cash or travellers cheques up to a total value of £200 for Red and Silver, £300 Gold or £500 for our Black cover. As long as you report it to the police within 24 hours.

We will contribute towards the cost of replacing lost or stolen passports and travel documents.

Lost or stolen items will only be covered if you report them to the police and get a written police report.

Any item is only covered to the value of £200 (Red and Silver), £300 (Gold) or £500 (Black).

Items that you leave unattended unless they are in your locked accommodation.

Cancellation and cutting your trip short

If you have to cancel or cut your trip short for one of the reasons specified in the policy wording then we will pay up to the policy limit for travel and accommodation you don't use and can't claim back directly.

Please note for some of these activities the cover is restricted to not providing cover under the personal accident or personal liability sections. See our policy wording for more information and which of these are covered for personal accident and personal liability.

Personal accident and personal liability cover is cover for when you cause an accident. For example, if you cause an accident whilst playing netball (which has personal accident and personal liability included) you are covered. However, if you cause an accident whilst on a jet-ski (which doesn’t have personal accident and liability included) you will not be covered.

Any restrictions on personal accident and personal liability cover does not affect other policy benefits such as medical and other expenses.

Winter sports

We automatically cover winter sports activities as standard on annual policies.

Winter sports cover for up to 10 days with our Red cover, 17 days with our Silver cover and 24 days with our Gold and Black cover.

Adjustable excess levels

Standard excess
This is the standard excess which applies to your policy. Standard excess is £100 on our Red cover, £60 on our Silver cover and £50 on Gold, there is no excess on our Black cover
Double excess
By doubling your excess your policy may be cheaper, but it's important you can afford the double excess if you need to claim.
Waive excess
If you choose to waive your excess you won't have to pay one if you need to claim, but the cost of your policy will be higher.
