The Virgin Money Prepaid Travel Mastercard is a prepaid Mastercard that you load with money to spend abroad. You can choose from US Dollars or Euros.
Easier to budget with than credit and debit cards, and safer than carrying cash, the Virgin Money Prepaid Travel Mastercard is ideal if you love travelling but hate the hassle of carrying travellers cheques.
You can use contactless to pay for items of up to £30, quickly and securely without having to enter your PIN, simply hold your card over the card reader. Look out for shops displaying the ‘contactless’ symbol.
If your card is lost or stolen you'll be protected against fraudulent use.
Just make sure you let us know as soon as you notice your card is missing. Plus your card isn't linked to your bank account and we don't send out paper statements, cutting the risk of any fraudsters getting their hands on your details.
We also give you an emergency card for free, upfront. If you lose your main card, simply call us to block that card and activate your emergency card, which you can begin using straightaway. It’s the perfect backup. And for extra security your cards are protected by Chip and PIN.
Using a Virgin Money Prepaid Travel Mastercard while you’re away is easier than exchanging Travellers Cheques and safer than carrying cash.
You can use the card to withdraw money from cash machines* and pay for your shopping etc, wherever Mastercard is accepted, saving you the hassle of cheques or providing proof of identity.
*ATM withdrawal fee in card currency is $2/€1.50.
The worst thing about returning from a trip is all the foreign commission charges on your monthly statement from using your credit or debit card.
With the Virgin Money Prepaid Travel Mastercard there’s no fee for making a transaction in your card's currency. So you won't pay a fee when spending on your Euro card in a country which has the Euro as its currency. And you won't pay a fee for spending on your US Dollar card in any US state. Exchange rates change on a regular basis, so the rate quoted here could be different to the rate you receive when you load money onto the card.
