You can use your card at millions of shops, restaurants and petrol stations worldwide, wherever you see the Mastercard logo. You can also use your card to shop online or over the phone.
A new regulation is being introduced across the industry to help protect you from fraud. You might hear it called Strong Customer Authentication or SCA. SCA will add an extra level of security when you shop online to confirm your identity. We might need to send you a text with a one-time passcode, you’ll need to enter this before you can complete your purchase.

You can pay for items of £100 or less, quickly and securely without having to enter your PIN, simply hold your card over the card reader.
Look out for shops displaying the ‘contactless’ symbol (above). To start using contactless payments, you will be asked to authorise your card by entering your PIN the first time you use it. To find out more visit myvirginmoney.com/contactless.
Every now and then you will be asked to confirm your identity , by completing a transaction using your PIN.
Transactions are actively monitored around the clock to prevent fraud, and your account is checked for unusual activity or suspicious spending patterns.
