How do Virgin Money debit card refunds work?
This transaction is called a refund authorisation, which lets you know your refund has been confirmed by the merchant (where you made your purchase) and is being processed. When we receive the refund, your balance will be updated to include the refund.
The merchant (where you made your purchase) is working on your refund, but we haven’t received it yet. Once we receive it, your balance will be updated to include the refund.
While your refund is being processed and still pending, a clock will show at the side of the transaction and a message will be displayed explaining that it will not show in your balance yet. Once we have received your refund from the merchant, the clock will have gone, and your balance will be updated to include the refund.
You will usually receive your refund within two working days of your refund being confirmed by the merchant. However, this can vary depending on the merchant. If you haven’t received your refund within 30 days of being confirmed by the merchant, please contact us.
No, not all merchants are using refund authorisations yet, so you might see it for some refunds but not others. When we receive the refund, your balance will be updated to include the refund.
If you don’t receive your refund within 30 days of the date on your refund receipt, please contact us.
If your refund is for a different amount than you expected, and you have a record of the amount you’re due, please contact us.
