Opening a new account
If you're 18 years of age or above, you can apply for this account online. If you're 16 or 17 years old, you can open it in some of our stores - please phone us and we'll tell you which ones.
As part of the application we need to verify your name and address. We’ll try to check this digitally first and can verify most applicants this way.
If not, we’ll post you an authentication code to your home address, to confirm this is where you live, and you can use this when you send us images of your ID online. You can find a list of the ID we can accept in the required personal identification document Link opens in a new window.

Managing your account
Interest will be paid gross without taking account of any tax payable.
If you earn interest over your Personal Savings Allowance you will be required to pay any tax due yourself directly to HM Revenue and Customs. If you would like to read more about your Personal Savings Allowance, please visit the Governments website www.gov.uk Link opens in a new window.
You can pay money into your account at any time by Faster Payment, paying cash into one of our Stores or by cheque. Remember you can use your Virgin Money app to scan cheques directly into your account.
You can withdraw funds at any time by using internet, telephone banking, Mobile Banking Service, or in Store.

Rate changes
The rate on your account may go up or down. If the account rate changes, we’ll let you know. If we reduce your rate, we’ll give you at least two months’ notice before it kicks in.
