What is personal belongings cover?
Home contents insurance usually stops at the front door.
That’s where personal belongings cover picks up and protects the things you take out and about.
For an extra cost, this optional add-on covers items:
- for loss, theft or damage
- worn, used or carried by you or your family
- taken away from home in the UK and abroad
What’s covered
Our personal belongings add-on covers items you normally take with you when you leave the house, such as:
- phones
- laptops and headphones
- jewellery and watches
- cameras
- bikes
Single items are covered up to a limit of £2,500. Some items have lower limits. Check our policy wording to make sure cover is right for you.
If you want to cover something worth more, you can add it to your policy as a high-risk item.

Higher value items
If you want to cover something that’s worth more than £2,500, you can list it separately on your policy.
This helps make sure your policy covers the value of the things you care about most, when it’s at home and out and about.
You can tell us about any high-risk items you want to cover when you get your quote.
Bicycle cover
From daily commutes to weekend adventures, personal belongings cover helps keep your bike protected if it’s lost or damaged, at home or abroad.
Bikes are covered up to £1,000 as standard. If yours is worth more, you can add extra cover when you get your quote.
It gives you peace of mind, mile after mile.
