Legal protection cover is an optional add-on to your home insurance that helps cover the cost of advice and legal action for some everyday disputes, so you’re not facing legal problems alone.
For an extra cost, this optional add-on gives you:
- 24/7 legal helpline
- access to specialist legal advisers
- up to £150,000 cover for legal expenses

It’s designed to protect your household against legal issues that come up in everyday life. Things like:
- personal injury
- identity fraud support
- employment disputes
- property and neighbour disputes
- tenancy disputes

Some legal situations are not covered, so knowing what’s included, and what isn’t, can help you decide if it’s right for you.
Knowing what legal protection does not cover can make it easier to decide if it’s right for you.
It does not cover legal situations like:
- divorce or separation
- buying or selling a property
- business or professional matters
- claims with 50% or less chance of success
- disputes that started before your policy

You and anyone who lives with you are covered.
Yes. Legal protection cover will add to the cost of your home insurance policy.
You’ll see how much it adds to your price when you get your quote, so you can choose what works best for you.
Yes. We’ll pay up to £100 an hour, plus VAT, up to a maximum of £150,000 for each insured event.
If more than one issue is linked by the same cause or happened around the same time, we’ll treat it as one insured event.
Usually, we’ll appoint one of our panel solicitors, or someone acting for them, to handle your case.
You can only choose your own legal representative if court proceedings need to start, or if there’s a conflict of interest. If that happens, the amount we’ll pay may be limited.
