Yes, you can apply for a joint account and receive Virgin Points if you complete all the offer conditions detailed in our terms. Particularly for joint accounts, you’ll need to make sure both account holders agree to switch. Just remember, only the primary account holder will receive the Virgin Points.

You can do this straight away when you apply online and you'll be presented with the option to give us your switch instruction. If you have any active Direct Debits on your existing current account, they will be automatically transferred across to your new Virgin Money Current Account when you go ahead with the full switch. Don't worry, if you don't have any Direct Debits set up on your old account, you can set them up once your account is open.

The great news is that Virgin Points don't expire. However, your Virgin Red promo code to claim your points will expire on 1 April 2022. Make sure you redeem your Virgin Red promo code before it expires.

Virgin Points can’t be exchanged for cash or any other product outside of the Virgin Red app.

No. The points that have not yet been redeemed for a reward will remain on your account until you decide to use them. They will never expire.

Virgin Red Switching Offer

  1. Who can take up this offer?
    • New Virgin Money Current Account customers who:
      • have a Virgin Red account;
      • are 18+;
      • are resident in the UK;
      • don’t already have a Virgin Money, B, Clydesdale Bank or Yorkshire Bank branded current account; and
      • haven’t held a Virgin Money, B, Clydesdale Bank or Yorkshire Bank branded current account since 30 November 2020.
    • This offer isn’t available with our M and Club M accounts, unfortunately.
  2. How do you take up this offer?
    • Apply online for our Virgin Money Current Account from the Virgin Red app or website.
      • You’ll see this offer listed in the “Earn Points” section of the Virgin Red app and website. Just click on “Get Points” when you want to go ahead. This will link you to the application page on our website. It’s important that you follow these steps to make sure you get the right application process for this offer. If you don’t, you might not get your points... and we don’t want that!
      • You won’t be able to take up this offer if we need to decline your application. This could happen for example, if you aren’t eligible due to your financial circumstances. This includes where we offer you the M account instead of the Virgin Money Current Account.
    • Complete a full bank account switch using the 'Current Account Switch Service'.
      • Select a switch complete date that’s within 31 days of your account opening date.
      • As part of your switch, you’ll need to transfer all your regular outgoing payments from the account you hold with another bank or building society. This doesn't include any recurring payments set up on your old debit card, such as film and music streaming subscriptions.
      • You must transfer or set up at least two direct debits for your new account. Just make sure to do this within 31 days of your account opening date. You can’t cancel the direct debits before we send your Virgin Red promo code (see section 3 for details).
      • You’ll need to give an account closure instruction for the account you are switching from.
      • If you are switching from a joint account, you’ll need to make sure both account holders agree to switch.

    • Download and register for the Virgin Money Mobile Banking app. You can do this as soon as your account is open. You’ll need to do this within 31 days of your account opening date.
    • Your Virgin Money Current Account comes with a linked savings account. You’ll need to credit this with at least £1,000 within 31 days of your account opening date. You need to keep at least £1,000 in your linked savings account until we send your Virgin Red promo code.
  3. What is the offer?
    • If you meet the offer conditions, we’ll give you a Virgin Red promo code. You can redeem this code with our friends at Virgin Red to get 15,000 Virgin Points.
    • We’ll send you an e-mail with your promo code within 14 days of you meeting the offer conditions. We’ll send your code to the e-mail you gave during your account application. The e-mail will provide instructions on how to redeem the code within the Virgin Red app or website.
    • Your Virgin Red promo code can be used until 1 April 2022. Make sure to redeem your code before then.
    • After you’ve redeemed your code, the points are added to your Virgin Red account. There is no specific expiry date for using the points. You’ll be free to use them in line with Virgin Red’s programme terms. You can find the terms here Link opens in a new window.
    • We thought we should highlight a few key things from Virgin Red’s terms:
      • the points don’t have a cash value and they can’t be swapped for cash;
      • the available offers can change from time to time; and
      • the points cost for each offer can change too.
    • Although we’ll be working closely with our friends at Virgin Red on this promotion, we aren't responsible for their terms, their marketing, or any of the offers available through their app. Just contact Virgin Red or the relevant offer provider if you have any questions about these topics.
  4. When can you take up the offer?
    • The offer will be available on an ongoing basis until we withdraw it. We can withdraw the offer without giving you any advance notice, but we’ll try to give some notice if we can.
    • The offer is subject to availability. This means we will definitely withdraw the offer when we’ve used up our stock of Virgin Red promo codes. We might also withdraw the offer if we need to make changes to the Virgin Money Current Account.
    • You don’t need to worry if we withdraw the offer when you’re part way through meeting the offer conditions. For example, if you’ve opened your account but haven’t transferred the £1,000 yet. As long as you’d submitted your account application before we withdraw the offer, you can still qualify. You’ll just need to continue to meet the rest of the conditions.
  5. What else do you need to know?
    • You can only benefit from this offer once. If you are a joint account holder, you can only take part once between you and your joint account holder.
    • Applications for the Virgin Money Current Account are subject to status and eligibility criteria.
    • We’ll use your personal information to help us run the offer.
    • English law applies to the offer.
    • If something goes wrong, we’ll try to fix it. If we can’t because it’s something we can’t control, or it’s not our fault, then we may have to change the offer. This includes suspending the offer or ending it early. We can make such changes without giving you notice. However, we’ll try our best to avoid making changes. And we’ll try to minimise any disappointment to you when we make changes.
