Meet Virgin Money’s First Emerging Stars

Get to know our first three talented Emerging Stars here – we think you’re going to love them!

It’s not easy to be an up-and-coming artist in today’s music scene, especially since the coronavirus crisis has effectively – though hopefully temporarily ¬- shut down the UK’s live music scene. The industry needs support like never before. That’s why we set up Virgin Money Emerging Stars, a programme that aims to identify, support and promote the best emerging talent in the business. Over the next 12 months, we will shine a spotlight on eight really exciting new artists that we feel embody the Virgin Money spirit – original, creative entrepreneurs who are pursuing their passion no matter what, but who could use a helping hand to reach the next stage of their career.

You can read more about our Emerging Stars programme here and read on to meet the first three incredibly talented artists that we’re hugely excited to be working with.

Aaron Taylor

Budding R&B and soul singer/songwriter Aaron Taylor has already been compared to legendary soul acts like D’Angelo, and has racked up over tens of millions of streams. London-born and raised, he describes his music as: “Groovy beats, heartfelt ballads, uplifting – and sexy.”

We asked Aaron how much of a difference winning his spot on Virgin Money’s Emerging Stars programme will make to his up-and-coming career. “I’m super-excited to be one of the first artists launching this,” he says. “I just feel super-honoured that Virgin Money would choose me. The programme gives me a chance to get my music out into the world in a way that I might not be able to do without their resources”.

Managed by the same team as Ed Sheeran and already getting airplay on BBC Radio 1, the quirky, offbeat, Suffolk-born DYLAN is an emerging pop star with very big things ahead of her. At just 20 years old she’s already graced the stages of a number of festival stages, and describes her music as “unapologetic, honest and dark. Well… I try to be dark, anyway!”

As to being one of the first Emerging Stars, DYLAN is pretty thrilled about it: “Virgin Money is a big company and I’m a very small artist so having you guys believe in me is insane,” she says. She’s also really excited to be working with our creative collaborators, hip music magazine Notion. “Notion is one of my favourite magazines and I read it religiously, and I’m so excited just to get my music out to a wider group of people”.

DYLAN is definitely one to watch. Listen to her music on Spotify.

They have high-profile support slots already under their belt for artists including Tame Impala and Jade Bird, but this indie rock band is not going to be playing second fiddle for long. The band consists of Jim, Alex, Edwin and Charlie – Jim and Alex met back when they were at primary school together and the pair met Charlie and Edwin from playing club nights around London. The friends formed Mosa Wild and describe their sound as “cinematic, alternative, indie”. Their live shows and music are already elevating the band beyond their contemporaries.

Gigging is expensive, especially for a band, and the Virgin Money Emerging Stars Programme couldn’t have come along at a better time. “It will help us do what we need to do during these difficult times, and it means we can reach a much wider audience with our music,” says Charlie. “It’s great to know Virgin Money are supporting musicians and people trying to make a career in this field.”
