| October | ![]() Sir Richard Branson attempts record Atlantic crossing aboard Virgin Money Sir Richard Branson and a 24-strong crew (including Olympic gold medallist Ben Ainslee, and Richard's son and daughter Sam and Holly) attempt to break the world record for an Altlantic crossing in a mono-hull yacht aboard the maxi yacht Virgin Money. Just over two days into the gruelling record attempt the crew admit defeat when a monster wave takes out the spinnaker and rips a huge gash in the mainsail. Arriving home safe but exhausted, Richard and the crew are keen to make another attempt in 2009. |
