A Virgin Prepaid Card costs just £9.95 to buy. A replacement card or extra cards for your family are just £4.95 each.

You have a choice of two tariffs:

Pay as you go
If you think you will only use your Virgin Prepaid Card occasionally, this tariff could be best as there is no monthly fee. You just pay 2.95% for each card transaction and cash machine withdrawal in the UK.

Pay monthly
If you are planning to use your Virgin Prepaid Card a fair bit, this tariff might be more suitable as there is no transaction fee for purchases in the UK. There is a flat monthly fee of £4.75 and a fee of £1.50 for each cash withdrawal in the UK.

How it works

How to top up your Virgin Prepaid Card

Loading and reloading your Virgin Prepaid Card with money is easy - it works just like a phone card top-up.

There are lots of ways to top up, and over 34,000 places in the UK to choose from:

*Debit or credit cards used to load money onto your Virgin Prepaid Card using our online service need to be registered with your bank for 'MasterCard Secure Code' or 'Verified by Visa'.

If we receive the funds on a business day, we will update your balance as soon as the funds are received on the same business day, or within two hours. If we receive the funds on a day that is not a business day, we will update your balance at the start of the next business day.

How it works

How we work out your spending limit

When you apply for your Virgin Prepaid Card we verify your identity against the information you've given us, so we know it's you. In most cases, this will go through automatically and we'll get a card to you within 7-10 days.

If we’re unable to do this automatically we’ll ask you to send us documents to confirm your identity. Depending on the information you provide, we may issue you with a restricted or an unrestricted card. If we can’t verify your identity, we may be unable to send you a card.
