You don’t need to do anything

Right now, there’s nothing you need to do. There’ll be no new account numbers. No new pins. No new phone numbers. You don’t need to call anyone or change any account details. All these things will stay the same. When things do change we'll contact you in plenty of time to let you know what's happening.

If you have savings with Clydesdale Bank, Yorkshire Bank or B, and Virgin Money then your Financial Services Compensation Scheme protection level isn’t affected at all by the two businesses coming together. If this changes, we’ll write to let you know.

If anyone contacts you claiming to be us and asking for passwords or pins, or to move money between accounts, it might be fraud. We will never ask you for these things. Don't give out your details or make payments unless you know who you’re dealing with. You should also avoid clicking on links within unexpected emails or texts. If you’re ever in any doubt, just give us a call.

A few things to remember to stay safe:

  • Don’t assume a text, phone call or email from someone claiming to be your bank is genuine. If you’re not sure, call us!
  • Never tell anyone your security details (pin or password) – a real bank will never ask for this.
  • Don’t give out your account details or make payments unless you’re sure of who you’re dealing with.
  • Don’t panic, and don’t let yourself be pressured into action.
