You can use this form to apply for an interest free Arranged Overdraft buffer of up to £500. The buffer will last for 3 months from the day you apply, or 3 months from the day your current buffer expires if you have an active interest free buffer already.
Our Contact Centres are extremely busy at the moment and operating on reduced hours, so completing this form to apply for an interest free Arranged Overdraft buffer is the fastest way for us to help you.
Once we receive the completed form we will process your request and add the buffer to your account if you qualify.
If you have more than one current account with us, you'll need to complete the form for each account.
If you have any questions, take a look at our frequently asked questions below.
You must have a personal current account with us that has an Arranged Overdraft limit. If you have a joint account, any of the account holders can apply.
Products that do not support an Arranged Overdraft do not qualify for a buffer. These are: Readycash, Virgin Money Essential and the Virgin Money Current Account (previously opened with Northern Rock), Savings accounts and Current Account Mortgages.
Please note: This request will not alter your Arranged Overdraft limit. The buffer is temporary, for 3 months, and does not alter any other contractual terms associated with your agreement. Upon expiry, your debit interest rate will apply to all of your Arranged Overdraft.
If you have an Arranged Overdraft which is less than £500, the buffer will mean that you won't pay any debit interest on the amount you choose to use up to £500.
If you do not have an Arranged Overdraft, you can apply here.
This is a buffer which will stop you paying debit interest on the first £500 Arranged Overdraft you use each month for 3 months. If you use more than £500, you'll only pay interest on the difference. As this is a temporary measure the full amount of debit interest will be pre-notified to you, but you'll see a refund coming into your account on the same day that it gets charged. You can check your balance using our online, mobile or telephone banking channels.
Only products that do not support an Arranged Overdraft are excluded. These are: Readycash, Virgin Money Essential and the Virgin Money Current Account (previously opened with Northern Rock), Savings accounts and Current Account Mortgages.
Our advisors are extremely busy at this time, so we've created an online application form which is currently the only way to apply.
No, you'll only be able to get the buffer if you have an Arranged Overdraft with us. If you've just opened a new account with an Arranged Overdraft, or successfully apply for one on an account you already have with us, you'll then be able to apply for the buffer.
If you have an account with us that doesn't have an Arranged Overdraft, you can apply here.
No, your limit (and associated contractual terms) will not be affected by this request.
No, your debit interest rate will be the same as before.
We will notify you that your buffer is due to expire and if you are eligible for a buffer extension you will be advised to fill out this form again. Once your buffer period expires, the debit interest rate will be charged on the full amount you borrow.
