What is a Unit Trust?

Unit trusts let you pool your money with thousands of other investors and spread it across a large number of investments.

That way the dealing costs are shared and all the administration and paperwork is done for you, at a tiny fraction of the expense of doing it yourself.

Because you are investing into lots of companies, you are spreading and reducing your risk. So you get to benefit from stock market performance without having to limit yourself to a few companies.

Our unit trusts let you invest in all the funds that our ISAs do. So they are ideal if you've already used your ISA allowance and want to invest more.

Always remember though, past performance isn’t a guide to the future, and with all stock market investments the value of your savings and the income you get from them can fall as well as rise, so you may not get back the amount you invested.

How can I invest in a Unit Trust?

You can invest in a Virgin Unit Trust on your own, with a partner, or even as a company, making it an ideal investment for your business.

Or you can set up trusts for other people, making them a fantastic way to build up a nest-egg for your children or grandchildren.

What funds can I invest in?

We offer 3 funds:

• Climate Change Fund
  An actively managed fund aiming to provide market leading returns by investing in specially selected companies that aim to drive outstanding profit growth and are environmental leaders in their industry.
• FTSE All-Share Tracker Fund
  A passively managed (index tracking) fund aiming to mirror the performance, before charges, of the FTSE All-Share stock market index. Invests in the shares of every one of the 600 + companies in the All-Share Index.
• Bond and Gilt Fund
  A fixed interest fund aiming to provide a high and regular interest returns without putting your capital at too much risk.

For investments in our FTSE All-Share Tracker Fund or our Bond and Gilt Fund there is a single annual management charge of 1% of the value of your savings, and that's it.

With our Climate Change Fund there is an annual management charge of 1.75%. There may also be a performance related fee, which we only earn if we outperform agreed benchmarks.
