Scottish town named a 'top destination'
A small Scottish coastal town has been named as one of the 'top five world destinations' by travel website Tripadvisor, The Daily Mail has reported.
Nairn, on the Moray coast, is said to have been included in the list due to it being the ideal base for a holiday in the Highlands and having some of Scotland’s sunniest weather.
A VisitScotland spokesman said of the town, "For those that know it already, it's the perfect spot to explore the area. You have castles, golf, walking, beautiful scenery, fantastic food and a very friendly welcome."
Nairn came second on the list, being only beaten by the Mexican town of Troncones, which was selected for its miles of sandy beaches.
The rest of the top five was made up of El Chalten in Patagonia, Patara in Turkey, and Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Germany.
Trips to the world's top destinations can be covered by a Virgin Money travel insurance policy.
