New hotel rating system for Jordan
An improved hotel classification system has been introduced in Jordan, The Independent has reported.
Three hotels in the Middle Eastern state have already been classified under the new system, which focuses on services offered by the hotel as well as its' facilities.
All of the country's hotels are expected to have been reclassified by a team of assessors by January 2011.
A spokesperson commented, "This new hotel classification system will ensure that Jordan can compete on an international level and that the tourism experience meets and even exceeds visitor expectations."
Hotel classification systems can often cause confusion as despite one to five star rankings being used across the world, there are no international guidelines in place to specify how they should be used.
Those planning an overseas hotel stay would be wise to invest in a travel insurance policy from Virgin Money.
