End of recession makes holidays more likely
British travellers are more likely to take a holiday now that the country's worst recession for decades is coming to an end, a new survey has revealed.
According to The Telegraph, the research, carried out by travelsupermarket.com, found that a holiday was more likely to be on the cards in the coming year than it was six months ago for nearly a fifth of those surveyed.
ABTA communications officer Sean Tipton commented, "It's difficult to forecast what will happen in the summer – and we are unlikely to see a record-breaking year – but these are good signs."
However, the survey also suggested that holidaymakers would be taking less spending money with them when they do go away.
While average holiday spending money per person per week was £312 six months ago, it has since dropped down to £295.
Virgin Money offers travel insurance to those looking forward to a holiday in the coming year.
