Copenhagen offers green hotel
A hotel used to host delegates during the Copenhagen COP15 climate conference is one of the greenest in the world, The Independent has reported.
Standing at 85 metres tall, the Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers is covered with solar panels, making it the largest solar panel building installation in Northern Europe.
It also utilises the earth as a heat source during the winter months, drawing water used to heat the hotel from 100 metres underground.
General manager Allan L Agerholm commented, "Future hotel guests will require hotels to run their businesses and operations based on environmentally friendly principles, without compromising on modern comforts and luxury."
In order to be classed as an EU Green Building, a hotel's carbon emissions must be no more than 5.7 kg per guest per night.
Currently, when renewable energy sources are used, the Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers' emissions per guest are 0 kg.
