Top passenger numbers at Heathrow
18/04/2012
A record 70 million passengers went through Heathrow Airport's terminals in the 12-month period to March, it has been announced.
The statistic showed the level of resilience of the UK's busiest airport in a challenging economic climate, its owner BAA said.
Heathrow's five terminals saw 5.7 million passengers pass through them in March, which represented a 6.9% increase on the previous year, in view of the fact that pre-Easter traffic occurred in March rather than April.
BAA, which also owns Stansted, Southampton, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen airports, is currently putting together a legal challenge against a decree to sell Stansted after losing an appeal against the decision earlier this year.
Consumers who are among the millions travelling overseas in the current economic climate will benefit from seeking out the best travel insurance deal, as they look to get the best value while maintaining appropriate cover for unforeseen events.
