18/01/2010
Website TravelRepublic.co.uk has unveiled 2009's top 20 hotels based on its 165,000 independent reviews, TravelMole has reported.
Via the site, customers are asked to rate their experience from one (meaning terrible) to five (meaning excellent), and can only do once they have made a booking and returned home from their trip.
Topping the list was the Villa Cortes Hotel in Tenerife, which achieved an average rating of 4.87.
Other hotels appearing in the top 20 included Budapest's Corinthia Grand Royal Hotel (4.81), Lanzarote's Iberostar Costa Calero Hotel (4.74) and the City Inn Westminster Hotel in London (4.68).
TravelRepublic managing director Paul Furner offered his congratulations to the named hotels and commented, "Given that we now have over 70,000 hotels on the website a spot in the top 20 is an amazing achievement."
Virgin Money offers travel insurance for those wanting to explore the world's best hotels.
