UK theme parks thriving

British holidaymakers are opting to stay a little closer to home and visit one of the UK’s many theme parks, MSN.com has reported.
According to figures from market analyst Mintel, a quarter of Brits took a trip to a UK theme park last year.
1.2 million people were also said to have visited a UK theme park for the first time in 2009.
Michael Oliver, Mintel analyst, commented, “The past two years have been very positive for the UK theme park industry, with the combined effect of economic recession and the weak pound actually working to its advantage because it persuaded more people to stay at home and take more day trips, short breaks and holidays.”
UK theme parks were said to be just as good as their overseas counterparts by around a quarter of consumers, while half said that lengthy queues put them off visiting.
