Despite a tough economic climate, Scotland’s tourism industry is continuing to thrive thanks to the number of British holidaymakers taking domestic breaks, MSN.com has reported.
Last year, nearly 12.5 million visitors from the UK holidayed in Scotland, generating billions of pounds towards the economy of the country.
Jim Mather, Tourism Minister, commented, “Scottish tourism is responding robustly to what continues to be a tough economic climate – generating £4 billion for the economy and boosting visitor numbers by 2.7 per cent last year against a global drop of 4 per cent.”
Mr Mather also went on to praise industry body VisitScotland, whose £5 million campaign is believed to have played a large part in attracting visitors to Scotland.
Annual Multi-Trip insurance from Virgin Money is ideal for covering domestic as well as international travel.
