Sizzling summer predicted
05/05/2010
Following a summer of showers last year, high temperatures and sunshine are expected in the UK in 2010, The Daily Mail has reported.
According to forecasting company Positive Weather Solutions, average temperatures from June to August could well surpass those of 1976, when temperatures in excess of 32 ºC occurred for 15 days.
Jonathan Powell, senior forecaster, commented, “There will be stifling temperatures, making it possibly the warmest UK summer on record and placing it at least in the top three warmest summers recorded.”
The Met Office faced criticism last year after the ‘barbecue summer’ it predicted became something of a wash-out.
“Now it is time to get the barbecue out – and people should be able to find a good deal on one after last year’s Met Office forecast,” Powell continued.
Those looking to catch some rays while staying in the UK can cover their domestic break with a travel insurance policy from Virgin Money.
