Seaside tourism still growing

Britain’s seaside tourism industry is thriving, a report by Sheffield Hallam University has revealed.
According to The Independent, the report, which examined 121 coastal resorts, found that around 210,000 jobs in England and Wales are directly supported by the seaside tourism industry.
Employment within the industry was also found to have steadily increased by about one per cent per year since the late 1990’s, accounting for around 20,000 additional jobs.
Professor Steve Fothergill, leader of the team that produced the report, commented, “What our figures show is that, even in the face of stiff competition from holidays abroad, Britain’s seaside towns have been able to retain and even expand much of their core business.”
UK Travel Insurance is available from Virgin Money to cover those heading to the coast for a holiday.
