Posh pilots preferred

Air passengers find a pilot who speaks with an upper class accent to be more reassuring than one who speaks with a regional accent, The Daily Mail has reported.
According to a survey by sunshine.co.uk, four out of five passengers found Received Pronunciation (RP) to be the accent that put them most at ease.
Chris Brown, sunshine.co.uk co-founder, commented, “We weren’t surprised to find that the classic RP accent was the most likely to make passengers feel safe, as it’s a given that the ‘BBC accent’ is the most widely accepted.”
Some regional accents proved to be more popular than others, with 72 per cent being reassured by an Edinburgh accent, and 76 per cent feeling unsettled by a Birmingham accent.
Male pilots were also more trusted than their female counterparts, with 83 per cent preferring to have a man at the controls.
