Portugal becoming hot property
23/06/2010
Prospective overseas property buyers are showing a greater interest in Portugal, MSN.com has reported.
According to figures from property website Rightmove, searches for property in Costa Verde in Portugal were up 60 per cent during March 2010 compared to March last year.
Robin Wilson, Rightmove’s overseas head, commented, “Never mind the arrival of spring, the arrival of sunshine seems to have set buyers racing for the sun, with big gains for classic Mediterranean destinations.”
A similar trend was also observed by foreign exchange company Moneycorp, who reported an increase in property related enquiries to Portugal and Cyprus.
Moneycorp head of private clients, David Kerns, said, “Properties within the eurozone would have appeared a more attractive prospect for euro buyers in March which could account for the rise in enquiries that Rightmove has seen.”
Those planning a trip abroad to view a property would be well advised to invest in a travel insurance policy from Virgin Money.
