Passengers returning to the skies

A strong recovery for the airline industry has been predicted for 2010, The Independent has reported.
According to global aviation body the International Air Transport Association (IATA) , passenger demand across Asia and Latin America is expected to grow by 12 per cent, with increases of 6.2 per cent and 4.2 per cent respectively.
Giovanni Bisignani, IATA director general commented, “Important fundamentals are moving in the right direction. Demand is improving.”
Elsewhere, British Airways reported its first quarterly operating profit in over a year for the last quarter of 2010.
BAA also saw a 2.4 per cent rise in passenger traffic through its airports in February of this year compared to 2009.
