Lost luggage tables scrapped
16/07/2010
Tables revealing the airlines with the worst punctuality and lost luggage records will no longer be published by the Association of European Airlines, The Telegraph has reported.
Several airlines had lobbied for the tables to be abolished, believing them to be bad for the image of the industry, however consumer groups have condemned the decision.
Simon Evans, Air Transport Users Council chief executive, commented, “The disappearance of the tables is a bad thing because it provided an incentive for airlines to do better.
“Mishandled baggage remains a big issue for passengers and we don’t buy the argument that just because a small percentage of cases go missing it is an insignificant amount.”
Holidaymakers can cover their personal belongings and baggage and much more with a travel insurance policy from Virgin Money.
