Long haul destinations popular

British holidaymakers are continuing to head further afield and opt for destinations outside the eurozone, The Telegraph has reported.
According to figures from holiday company Thomson, long haul bookings are up 14 per cent, with destinations such as India, Egypt and Morocco proving particularly popular.
A poll of 1,159 adults also showed that almost 50 per cent were willing to travel further this year than they did last year, with sightseeing the most important factor when choosing a location.
Dermot Blastland, Thomson managing director, commented, "Our latest figures show that Britons are determined to take a real break this summer and it's 'awaycations' all the way – not just sun and sand, but new cultures and locations.
"Consumers who hung back last year are more confident about spending this year and are benefiting from better deals outside the eurozone."
Virgin Money offers travel insurance to cover both short and long haul holidays.
