Holidaymakers profit from weak euro
03/08/2010
There has been a 70% increase in holidaymakers taking advantage of the weakening euro by sorting out their vacation expenses in euros before they even depart for their destination, a foreign exchange firm has said.
Currency UK has found that an average of £600 per holiday can be saved by paying for various services and parts of their holiday in euros.
Adrian Jacob at Currency UK said: "In the last month, we have seen the euro rate significantly weaken which is great for British holidaymakers jetting off to the sun this summer.
"We have calculated that the average family of four could save in the region of £600 per trip if they booked all of their ancillary services in advance of their stay and paid in euros through a foreign exchange broker.
"We have certainly seen an increase in the number of savvy holidaymakers taking advantage of the low rates currently in the market by paying for their complete holiday in euros through us and we expect this trend to continue throughout the year as the euro continues to weaken against the sterling rate."
