Fans of the Harry Potter books and films will soon be able to delve deeper into the world of the young wizard as Universal’s new theme park is set to open in Florida on June 18th.
According to The Daily Mail, rides featuring in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter will include a roller coaster entitled ‘Dragon Challenge’ and a family ride known as ‘Flight of the Hippogriff’.
Signature ride ‘Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey’ will also see long-deceased characters Helga Hufflepuff, Salazar Slytherin, Godric Griffindor and Rowena Ravenclaw brought to life in the form of talking portraits.
Art director Alan Gilmore said of the portraits, “They are unique to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter so that is a really big point for the fans. They actually get to meet these people and understand who they are.”
Over 400 million copies of the seven Harry Potter books have been sold worldwide, with the movie franchise also proving extremely popular.
Virgin Money offers travel insurance to cover trips to magical destinations like Florida.
