Films inspire holiday choices

Many Brits are influenced by films when it comes to selecting a holiday destination, MSN.com has reported.
According to research by travelsupermarket.com, a poll of 1,826 adults found that 17 per cent of British travellers had been influenced by the silver screen, with the figure rising to 25 per cent in Northern Ireland alone.
Women were found to be more likely to take a movie-inspired holiday than men, while the under 20's emerged as the most susceptible age group.
Travelsupermarket.com travel expert Bob Atkinson commented, "It's hardly surprising that travellers are taking their inspiration from films. We’re a captive audience and the big screen often captures locations at their best."
The three most popular film-influenced holiday spots were New Zealand, New York City and Thailand, having provided the settings for the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Sex and the City: The Movie, and The Beach respectively.
Trips to famous locations across the world can be covered by a Virgin Money travel insurance policy.
