Brits rate 'staycations'
29/06/2010
The vast majority of Britons who took a domestic break last year would be happy to do so again, research by mystery shopping and business intelligence company Retail Active has discovered.
85 per cent of the 2,000 people taking part in the study answered that they took their main holiday in the UK last year, MSN.com reported, and, based on their experience, 88 per cent said they would do so again.
A third of respondents also stated that their UK holiday for this year was already booked, while another third were still undecided between holidaying in the UK or abroad.
Some of the most popular reasons for taking a domestic break included the increasing cost of overseas holidays, the strength of the euro against the pound, and simply just fancying a change.
Half of ‘staycationers’ also rated their holiday as ‘excellent’ in terms of value for money, and 96 per cent answered that they would recommend a ‘staycation’ to their friends.
Virgin Money offers travel insurance to cover both domestic and foreign holidays.
