Virgin Travel Insurance investigates the cost of holidays

Thinking of going away this Christmas? Why not try Krakow?
Virgin Travel Insurance have done a bit of research and discovered that the most expensive European city to visit is the Czech capital, Prague. It's famous for the markets in Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square, but could cost you more than double the price of a visit to Berlin's Christmas markets, or even Budapest.
We've compared the cost of a two-night stay in a four star hotel close to the markets, as well as the price of entry into the local attraction and the bill for Virgin Travel Insurance for a two night stay.
It turns out that the cost can change massively, depending on where you visit - Prague was rated as the most expensive, costing £482 per person compared to £204 for Valkenburg in Holland, £141 for Berlin and £129 for Krakow.
And if you venture inside the Arctic Circle to Lapland, you're guaranteed to see a reindeer or two - but it will set you back almost twice the cost of a trip to Poland.
One thing that does remain the same, regardless of where you go in Europe for 3 days, is the cost of Virgin Travel Insurance. If you're heading to Europe this winter, why not get a travel insurance quote today?
