Top up your Cash ISA

Making the most of your tax-free allowance is easy and you can choose to add to your account in a number of ways.

For all Cash ISA accounts you can make additional deposits in one of our branches or via post. You can also top up electronically, however the details you need to do this varies between Online accounts and Branch and Postal accounts, which you can find below.

How to top up your Online Cash ISA electronically

If you have an Online Cash ISA, you can add funds to it by CHAPS2, or other electronic means (Faster Payments Service, BACS, Standing Order) by using the following details:

For FPS, BACS and Standing Order transfers: Sort code: 08-60-64; Account number: Your online account number

For CHAPS2 transfers: Sort code: 08-02-65; Account number: 50048407; Reference: Your online account number and your name

For CHAPS2 transfers from banks outside the UK: Sort code: 08-00-51; Account number: 50048407; Reference: Your online account number and your name along with the following BIC and IBAN numbers;

IBAN No. GB04CPBK08005150048407

To transfer from another online Virgin Money account, follow these steps:

  • log on to your online account
  • select 'Virgin Money Transfer' from the 'Take Money Out' menu option

How to top up your branch or postal Cash ISA electronically

If you have a Branch and Postal Cash ISA, you can add funds to it by telegraphic transfer (CHAPS2), or other electronic means (Faster Payments Service, BACS, Standing Order) by asking your bank to send us a payment quoting your account number and the following details:

For FPS, BACS and Standing Order transfers: Sort code: 08-61-15; Account number: 00000515; Reference: Your account number

For CHAPS2 transfers: Sort code: 08-02-65; Account number: 50048407; Reference: Your account number and your name

For CHAPS2 transfers from banks outside the UK: Sort code: 08-00-51; Account number: 50048407; Reference: Your account number and your name


How to top up your online, branch or postal Cash ISA in branch

You can top up your Online or Branch and Postal account by popping into your nearest branch** and making a deposit by cash or cheque1.

How to top up your online, branch or postal Cash ISA via post

To top up your Online or Branch and Postal account by post, simply choose one of the following options:

  • Send us a cheque to the address below, made payable to 'Virgin Money for the account of (insert account holder(s) name(s))' and crossed 'A/c Payee only' with your account number quoted on the reverse
  • Transfer from an existing Virgin Money account (not online operated) by sending your written instructions along with the passbook, if applicable, to the address below:

To transfer your cash ISA from another provider

If you have a Cash ISA with another provider and you wish to transfer your funds to Virgin Money, all you need to do is complete a transfer authority form and we’ll do the rest!

You can download the transfer authority form, complete one in a Store or contact us on 0845 600 7301*.

Please note that transfers of Cash ISAs from other providers are not permitted with our ISA Breaker account.

Remember

Please note that under HM Revenue & Customs guidelines, you can only subscribe to one Cash ISA in this tax year (6 April 2014 to 5 April 2015).

From 6 April 2014 the overall ISA subscription limit increased to £11,880 (Cash and Stocks and Shares) of which up to £5,940 can be saved in a Cash ISA with one provider.

The changes in subscription limits do not affect your ability to withdraw from your account, please refer to the terms and conditions and account information you received upon opening your Cash ISA for further details.
