Virgin Money Celebrity Dad of the Year 2007

As if facing a courtroom battle wasn’t enough, Macca is now embroiled in a new custody clash - for the most coveted title in parenting. 

There’s no love lost in his high profile divorce – but Sir Paul McCartney’s won the nation’s heart and a place in the shortlist for Virgin Money Celebrity Dad of the Year 2007. He’s impressed with his ability to face the courts and the cameras whilst finding time to pen new albums, plan a global tour and make quality time for three year-old Bea. 

He’s joined on the list by other divorced dads and single fathers including Jude Law and Bob Geldof. 

With the winner revealed in just over a week the public has been busy registering votes on www.virginmoney.com/celebritydadoftheyear for the celebrity dad they would most like to see crowned with the coveted title in time for Father’s Day (Sunday, 17 June).

Other celebrity dads on the list include David Beckham, who a week after making his triumphant England return is making a second comeback, scoring a place in the shortlist after a two-year hiatus. 

In the fifth year of the prestigious award, headline-grabbing dads have won the nation’s hearts. Foul-mouthed father Gordon Ramsey has made an appearance alongside bad dad rocker Liam Gallagher. Pop parents Peter Andre, Gary Barlow and Ronan Keating are also on this year’s list.

Just a few weeks before he’s due to leave Number 10 Tony Blair’s got the UK’s vote, making his first entry on the short list. But once again he’s got competition for the leadership from Gordon Brown.

Members of the public have swamped www.virginmoney.com/celebritydadoftheyear (this site is no longer available) since the nominations opened two weeks ago. The Virgin Money Celebrity Dad of the Year award aims to reward the celebrity dad who has impressed the public by balancing a hectic public life with the demands of parenting.

Britain has until midnight on June 12th to vote for its celebrity dad from the short listed top 20 by registering nominations at www.virginmoney.com/celebritydadoftheyear (this site is no longer available).

The winner will be presented with their Award at an exclusive presentation ceremony in London on June 15th.
