Firstly, stay as calm as possible. Car accidents leave most people a little shaken, so bear this in mind and try to deal with the situation in a calm manner.
- If there are injuries, call the police and an ambulance straightaway.
- If anyone else is involved, exchange personal and insurance details with the other driver.
- Ask for details of any witnesses and take down the registration of all vehicles involved.
- If you think it will help, draw a diagram and note down what happened, while it is still fresh in your mind.
- Call us with all these details - the sooner the better.
- We will aim to get your car fixed and back on the road as soon as possible.
- If you have Comprehensive cover, we will also arrange a courtesy car for you. (Subject to availability while your car is being repaired by an approved repairer).

If you have our Breakdown Cover, call the number above for Green Flag assistance. They will aim to be with you within the hour. They always try to give priority to female callers who are on their own.
Most of the time the problem can be fixed there and then, so you can continue with your journey. If that isn’t possible, they will take your car to a garage and help you complete your journey.
