Car park bump for globe-trotting pair

The owners of a rare classic car that negotiated some of the most treacherous roads in the world with barely a scratch could be forced to make a car insurance claim after the vehicle was eventually dented while parked in a supermarket car park back in the UK.
Retired couple Geoffrey and Hilary Herdman embarked on a 33,000-mile trip around the world in a 1956 Bristol 405 Drophead Coupe, of which only 42 were made.
The trip lasted for 16 months and took in some of the world's most dangerous roads. But it was on the return to England that the Bristol picked up the most damage after a motorist bumped into the car while it was left in a Sainsbury's car park.
Mr Herdman said he and his wife had received frequent warnings on their travels about the dangers of their trip - from having their car stolen to being the victims of a kidnapping - but they had no problems other than some small minor repairs such as a couple of punctures.
Repairs for the first 24,000 miles of the trip set the couple back £79.50 but they had to spend around £300 to fix the dent.
