Motor industry chiefs have welcomed an acceleration in UK car production seen last month.
Car insurance providers can expect a rush of new motor policies after 120,036 vehicles came off the production line in June, 1.8% up on a year ago, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
The increase takes the number of vehicles manufactured so far this year to 662,852 - an increase of 4.1% on the same time last year.
SMMT chief executive Paul Everitt said: "Sustained investment in research and development, skills and new products by the UK automotive industry is helping to rebalance the economy, but there remain significant challenges."
The monthly figures also reveal a 2.2% decline in commercial vehicle output, to 10,425 in June - a decrease of 4.9% over the first six months of this year.
Engine production rose by 0.8% year-on-year in June, with almost 240,000 engines built.
