Online security

To keep the information you give us safe and secure, and to prevent unauthorised access to it, we follow strict security procedures on how your information is stored and accessed.

Customer questions about online security usually fall into three areas.

  • How do you stop someone logging-in as me and viewing my details?
That's what your personal security details are specifically designed to prevent (things like user names and passwords), even though they may sometimes seem like hassle to remember. Anyone taking pot-luck at trying to access your details wouldn't be allowed many tries at guessing your password and other security details. On failing they'd be denied access to the site. We'd then contact you to let you know someone had unsuccessfully tried to log-on in your name.

If you get your own security details wrong, on-screen instructions will tell you what to do next.

  • How do you protect information I send and receive from you while it's travelling to and from my computer?
By employing some of the most advanced online security measures in the business. All details passing between us are scrambled using 128-bit encryption. Basically this makes it virtually impossible for anyone to 'decode' the information and read it as it travels over the internet.

128-bit encryption is considered unbreakable with today's technology. The probability of cracking it is 1,844,674,407,709,551,616 to 1.

  • Are there any security tips I should follow?
Keep your password and Members Shop user name secret. Don't write them down in any way someone might be able to understand. Make them unguessable, and change them from time to time.

If you use a shared computer remember to clear the cache after use.

Use Anti-Virus software to protect against computer viruses and programs like 'Trojan Horses'. Keep your anti-virus software regularly updated.

Don't accept email attachments from people you don't know.
